Default Plotting to Designjet 500ps crashes CAD

We recently got a Designjet 500ps.

On first installation the plotter wouldn't recognize the files sent to it.

IT Dept fiddled around with it and did get it up and running although very slow within cad.

Today whenever I try to plot cad crashes out completely.

Doe anybody have any Ideas as I really reticent about letting IT near cad.

    Many Thanks in advance

    Richard

Question Re: Plotting to Designjet 500ps crashes CAD

    Hi

Within AutoCAD how do you have this Plotter set-up -

Plotting directly to the Windows System Printer.
Configured via a PC3 file using the Windows Driver.
Configured via a PC3 file using a Heidi Driver.

If using a Windows Driver do you have the most up to date version available from the manufactures web site?

    Have a good one, Mike

    Hi,
We have a HP 500 24". When we set up our hp with a cheap print server, my computer acted the same way. I uninstalled the drivers for the print server and everything worked fine.. not sure why. Still slower than printing directly from my pc, but acceptable.

    Mike

I have tried both the standard windows and creating a .pc3 file with the same results. Strangely a small A3 drawing will print. We have two copies of ACAD 2005 and some acad LTs the LTs can still plot?

Unfortunately the fun police have locked things down so tight here, including usb ports.

Any information that I can pass on to IT will be a great help as it took 3 of them a week to set the plotter up in the first place.

    Many thanks

    Richard

    Hi

Did you try configuring the PC3 file using a Windows Driver or a Heidi Driver?

If you have not tried both the above methods, I suggest you try the missing one.

Are all AutoCAD version running on the same Operating System?

    Have a good one, Mike

You would not believe that IT have still not sorted this problem out.

I actually have some time to breath today and am going to give it a go.

I cannot see any reference to Heidi drivers on the HP web site and the printer setup within acad seems to want these. Any Ideas would be appreciated.
