    Default Editing Text in Paperspace

I have a template titleblock in Autocad. When I load it into a paperspace and try to edit the text, I get a small "cursor" box, but cannot see any of the text. It is not on the screen, cursor, in-place or command line. You can start typing, but never see any text on the screen in any of the areas. It works fine in model space. When you hit enter, you see what you have typed. My workaround is doing a properties on the text and changing it there. Has anyone else had this problem. I think it might have something to do with this new HUD. Can this feature be turned off in paperspace.

There are two options you might look at. You can have the old 2002 style editor back through the command MTEXTED - at the prompt type in OLDEDITOR. the second option is available from the same command only entering :LISPED (note the colon symbol). this will give you a single line text editor for short pieces of mtext that has a button option to view it with the standard editor box and longer pieces of mtext will automatically bring in the standard box

I just tried this. I typed MTEXTED and changed it to OLDEDITOR. It accepted it no problem. Then I tried selecting an MTEXT entity to edit and it gave me this: "Cannot find shell program."

    What does that mean?

I haven't tried Mtext at all. This text is a dtext entity, single line.

    Thanks,

Make sure you are zoomed in enough to see it, 2006 uses an in place editor, even for dtext.

I was zoomed in plenty to see it - The characters appeared three times the sizes of the text you are now reading. It showed the editor, but it was only as wide as the cursor and never got any wider. These files have been brought over from 2005 version, but that shouldn't matter.
