    Default View Range in Family

I am having some difficulties with the view range for a structural framing family that I created. When loaded into a project, the family retains the view range settings for the family and not for the project. This is fine for Level 1 but for Level 2, I need to see the sloping beam members in plan.

How can I control the view range for this family from within a project?

I attached the family to this post for anyone who has a chance to look at it.

Has anyone had a chance to look into my view range problem?

In family category and parameters - change symbolic representation to "From Family" to "From Project Settings"... <rel. 8 "What's new help file...>

    Aaron,

I tried this but it does not work. Does this work for you?

Works for me - here's the amended family.

Check that your Level 2 is actually above the beam members.

I am able to select 'From Project Settings' for the Symbolic Representation but when I load the family into the project and change the 'Cut Plane' location, the 'Cut Plane' does not move. It remains at the location set in the family file.

OK, I've taken a more detailed look at this. ( I had previously only looked at the Level 1 Plan view in relation to your first post. )

There is definitely a problem. The project family does not respond to the View Range set in the project - it's locked into the family view range setting and will not change no matter what the "symbolic representation" in the family category & parameters is set to. Changing the view range in the family and reloading into the project, changes the view range in the project. Noting else appears to change the view range within a plan view in the project.

Factory - care to comment ?
