    Question Rigid Frame Problems

I'm having problems with Rigid Frames. After setting up the components in my member styles and then using the rigid frame tool I apply the tool to the polyline. The problem is that alternating members are in reversed orientation and any changes I make to the settings in the member styles either have no effect or effect all members not just specific members. Any advice?

    Here's a few that I've done.
I didn't use any tool, just followed the example in the help file/user's manual.

    It opened fine for me.
But I guess you could look at the first time I posted this as well.
Thanks for the head's up Steve.

A couple of things I noted.

Make your profile for the rigid frame in an elevation view, not plan view. While in plan view, copy your profile, then go to a front elevation view & paste the profile. Then while in the elevation view, apply the rigid frame to the linework. This will also have your geometry in the proper orientation in plan view & when sectioning it.

When you select the linework to convert for the rigid frame, you get a nice little popup box asking whether or not you want individual members for each segment of the polyline (NEW to 2006). Make sure this is UNchecked before hitting the OK button. Otherwise you will get separate structural members for each segement & that is not a rigid frame as nothing is connected & defeats the purpose of making one. I have a feeling this will make it work for you.

OK guys...I've got it this far, but why is the right leg of the rigid frame being drawn correctly like the left? One of the comments was to draw all of this in elevation view, but can't I just 3d rotate and then move it into position on the grid? The revised drawing is attached.

When you created your style the last component was set to stop relative to end looking for point 6.

It looks correct to me now.
    Here you go
Just be careful and make sure that when you start picking point to go in sequence.
