Question Filled region doesn't work properly in wall based family

    Hi everybody!

I try to do some some plumbing families that would act like a 3D model without being one.

    Description:
I use filled regions inside a detail component for each view to mask whats behind.
I load these detail components in a standard wall based plumbing family.

    Problem:
Look at the attached file. While side and top views of the toilet display correctly, the front view (the one corresponding to the placing side) sometimes displays wrong, sometimes displays right.
In the south elevation you can see the problem.

    What I tried:
I tried setting the detail component in a reference plan that is offset from the wall - not working.
I changed the hatch from solid to no pattern - not working.

I don't know what else to do - it's quite FRUSTRATING.
    Thank you

    Update 2005_06_26
If you create the same family as a non wall based plumbing fixture it works. It will work as well if you nest this newly created family inside a wall based one.
However I would like to know whether this is a bug if there is something wrong I do.

Question Re: Filled region doesn't work properly in wall based family

    Hi,

I still face the same problem... can't get wall based families with filled region detail components to show properly. Am I the only one?

    Thank you

You need to draw a ref. plane a slight distance from the wall and set it as your workplane for your filled regions. Even with solids if the two solids are in the exact same plane the surface pattern will show through one into the other.

    Sigh.

I guess this should be a sticky as it seems to come up once every two weeks....
