Layout has invalid hardcopy configuration - message

When I try to preview a plot in ACAD 2000i no preview comes up and the message appears, "layout has invalid hardcopy configuration." Just some files do this. They all have multiple viewports and I'm trying to plot them from paperspace. Also, my pagesetup isn't setting the custom properties on these files for some reason.

I have to make a correction to my previous post on invalid hardcopy configuration. This is happening in ACAD 2005.

If these were files that plotted okay in A2000(i) then a workaround can be to change "what to plot" between Limits, Extents or a Window - depending on what it is already set to. I never did figure out the why of it.

Wow, thanks. Changing "What to Plot" made it work. Just one of those things, I guess.

I have been getting the same message, but not in 2000i, nor 2004, nor 2005, nor 2006.... (we had 2007, but didn't load it). I experienced it in 2008.

Not until 2008.... why is that?

The "hardcopy device" (or the plotter) is saved in the drawing, on a per-viewport basis.

If I create a drawing here with a page setup that is set to plot to a Xerox 8825 and send it to you and you open the drawing and run the PREVIEW command - you will get this message (unless of course you happen to have the 8825 driver loaded and the same PC3 file)
