Error message - HPLTRPL9.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows

I am getting a Program Error message (HPLTRPL9.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows) when I try to plot.
Has anyone seen this error before and can advise me what to do? I have deleted the plot driver and reinstalled but get the same message.
The software has also been reinstalled.

I have windows 2000 sp4 - Acad2006 - HP Designjet 500

When i searched Autodesk's knowledge base & discussion groups ,i found those replies
but not that is nothing new.I've tried all but still nothing...

Use the variable FULLPLOTPATH

Controls whether the full path of the drawing file is sent to the plot spooler.
0 Sends the drawing file name only
1 Sends the full path of the drawing file

The printerdisplay seems to have problems with the length of the path+filename.
