Default Symbolic lines in plan view.

I have a roof light that I want to show in plan using symbolic line's, I added a sub-category to be able to control the visibility of the roof light in plan, but no matter what I try I cant get the symbolic line to show up in plan. I've looked at a the post's reffering to this and ways of overcoming this but I'm still unsure as what to do.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Regards, Paul.

I am not sure is this is the missing ingredent but have you placed an invisible model line in the z plane? see the attached file as an example. when the line is cut by the view plane your linework should showup.

I think the problem is that symbolic lines only show in planes parallel to their creation view and as they are then placed on an inclined roof the floor is not parallel to it.

I presume you would like to see, on the floor plan, where the skylights are above you.

I see the problem....Solution to follow.

One way to achieve this will be to turn on the roof plan as an underlay to your plan. Then use the linework tool to turn the skylihght edges into 'Overhead' lines.
Then switch off your roof plan underlay

    That should work OK

Ok I was wrong, the inclined plane has no effect. Here is a skylight that seems to work.

Your family looks fine. I placed it in a roof assembly and the line work appeared just as it should. I pitched the roof and changed the elevation and it stooped displaying as you say. I did not know this before but evidently the invisible model line even though it is locked to the ground level dose not adjust it's length in the model. I added a parameter that controls the length of the invisible line so that I could extend into the view pane. I guess you could use a plane region to make it work as well. Neither are fail safe solutions. hope this helps I know I learned somthing
