Layer Filters

We have in our autocad dwg files ( 2002) lots and lots of layer filters and these take a while to delete. They come into the files from other users outside our office. First- is there a way to prevent their importation? Second is there a quick way to delete them? We currently open the layer control box, select delete and then put a stapler on the enter button and wait. If there is a better way to deal with this would love to hear it.

Try searching the Forums. Various lisps to delete layer filters have been posted. As for not importing them (I assume you mean as part of an xref), I'm not aware of a way to prevent that.

FWIW, AutoCAD 2006 has improved the way it handles layer filters. You can delete them much easier.
