    Question yes/no visibility in families

I am trying to create a family type in a window family that has the option of having a light shelf (or not). I created the extrusion that will be the shelf, and I created a yes/no parameter I called shelf. Now how do I connect the two so I can turn the visibility off as an instance parameter?
