Window appears when opening a drawing - Select Shape file

Can anyone tell me what is happening when I open my CAD drawing? I've attahed a pic to help you out cuz I can't quite explain it.

The dwg probably contains a custom linetype that uses a shape in the shx file that its looking for, but you don't have the shx file in the search path. If you recieved the file from someone, you need to ask them to send you all the support files. Teach them to use eTransmit instead of just giving you the dwg.

I agree with Ed that they should use eTransmit to send you the files.

You can just hit cancel and go on for the time being. The drawing will still look right and you will still be able to use that linetype for newly drawn lines. Its just an annoyance when you open the file.
