Default Working with Images - OUT OF MEMORY - Shutting Down

Does anyone know how to reduce the amount of memory it takes to view a raster image without reducing the quality of the image, we have a project that contains 56 aerial photographs, that are 5000 X 5000 pixels. We can open the file and see small areas, but if we zoom out past a certain point, AutoCAD displays an error message (OUT OF MEMORY - Shutting Down). Any Suggestions, I am using regular AutoCAD 2005.

    Thanks

Aside from the obvious of UNloading the images (which takes up valuable memory to UNload & REload), you may want to look at simply putting the images on separate layers and simply freezing them.

    Or...

Find some way to make one master image file, and then IMAGECLIP out the parts you don't currently need

and, of course, install more RAM - or increase your pagefile size.
