Question separating window's frame from window's glass

When I export solid 3D model rvt to dwg, I found that 3D window's frame layer was bounded to it's glass. So I face difficulties when I re-apply material in 3DMax. The material of windows frame is similar to the glass because I couldn't select the glass only. How to overcome it?

May be a problem with the family(glass & frame have same material), or in the layer mapping.

Take a look at File / Import-Export Settings / Export Layers DWG/DXF to see where the current layer mapping file is sending stuff.

You need to apply different Color ID number (File Import/Export Settings) for each component prior to exporting to DWG in order to have different sub-objects once link in Max.
