    Default <<Unnamed profile>> changes

I have made many changes to the search paths for program files, including acad.cfg. Basically, everything that Autodesk wanted to install in documents and settings was repathed to d:drive. I installed with an admin id, then tested and everything held in place, but after IT made a ghost image, and I tested on an imaged workstation under my own ID, some of the profile's paths reset as well as some other settings.

How deep do I have to go to get it to hold? Is there a registry I can edit?

Have you exported and imported a profile .arg file?
Does that fix some of the paths?

    Question Re: <<Unnamed profile>> changes

    Hi

Have you looked into Creating, Saving, Exporting & Importing an AutoCAD profile (ARG file)?

    Have a good one, Mike

Yes, but some of the paths keep resetting. When I first click on my icon with <<Unnamed profile>> as the /p switch, it is basically starting Acad for the very first time, so there must me something in the program taking precedence over what it in the <<Unnamed profile>>

What happens if you save a named profile (myprofile.arg) and change the desktop icon switch to point to that name?
<<unnamed profile>> may have special qualities like the old <<vanilla>> did.

Several days ago tried that and it didn't seem to matter. I am about to use Beyond compare (Great software BTW) to compare that old arg to the one I just exported off the <<unnamed profile>> that is not working. Will keep you posted.

Here's an attachment comparison report in html. On the left (drawing1.arg) is the way the test workstation loaded the <<unnamed profile>>. This is not good. On the right (unnamed.arg) is the way I set them up to work, but as I said, importing them in or putting unnamed.arg in the target line did not help.

    Note the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R16.2\ACAD-4001:409\Profiles\<<Unnamed Profile>>]

I believe this is the issue. I will try to change this to read

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R16.2\ACAD-4001:409\Profiles\unnamed]

since this is the name of the arg I am trying to import and make current and see if this helps.

Our Autodesk reseller is coming in to undo the mess our former IT guy left us with. It was assumed 2006 could be supported the same way as 2002 was. It was assumed IT could put 2006 on a ghost image and deploy to users that way. It was assumed 2006 could be installed without reading the Network Administrator's guide. I have been trying to make a silk purse out of sow's ear ever since.

We are going to start over and probably use the Deployment Wizard this time. Will still keep you posted.
