I working on a design where there is a flat "canopy" over an enterance and I want to show it supported by tension rods that go back to the exterior face of the building at a 45 degree angle. I've started by creating an in-place family, which contains the brackets the tension rod would tie into. My question is how to actually create the tension rod. I've been trying to use the revolve command but it is having trouble with the axis. Anyone have any ideas.

    Thanks,

I've done them in the past as a sweep with a circular profile.

Simple to model and works well.

Sometimes I've used a model line for a thin rod. But thats just plain lazy.

Thanks guys, I'll give a sweep a try. If it turns out I'll post it here.

We often start out with a Model Line during the design phase due to the ease of adjustment. When details start to come out we switch to a sweep along a RP for control. We have a couple of different turnbuckle and ends we apply to the ends.
