    Default Pack n Go Problems

I have 2 concerns on sending assemblies to my customers:

    1) When I use the Pack n Go utility all the components from the ipart centre are listed as unresolved parts. What do I have to do to ensure that they are resolved?

    2) Is there a way to give my customer a fully scaled assembly that he can move around, place into his assembly, but it is only a single item so that he can take apart the parts and start to reverse engineer. Also the folders I create are massive and I don't want to send such a large folder through the internet.

    Looking forward to your response.

    1. I'm not completely sure on this one (I haven't done a P&G on I-parts). Make sure you uncheck 'skip libraries' (if available). Also make sure that you hit both 'Search Now' buttons. This will at least make sure that you do the deepest search possible.

    2. You could go to step or sat, this puts everything into one file. Another option would be to derive the assembly into a single part, and export the step or sat of that. The volume and geometry will be there, but it will be a 'dumb solid' with no feature history. This would give you the flexibility to let them reverse engineer everything, or you could fill voids, etc, and remove information if you didn't want them to reverse engineer it.

Thanks for your input Jonathon. I've derived the assembly into a single part and saved it as a step file. This will allow my customer to place the part in his model and check interferences etc. I'm not worried that my customer will reverse engineering (I prefer to call it copying) the parts.

I'll work on the pack and go later today.
