How to learn Revit?

What can you guys recommend to be the best way to learn Revit? Is thier any tutorial books out there? I know playing around with it you learn things on the go but I was wondering if thier is anything on paper or online that could help.

There are a lot of tutorials in the help documentation that are of tremendous value. Also, Cyril Verley's book is great. You can find his books at www.cdvsystems.com.

The tutorials that come with Revit are the best place to start. They come on the CD, or are available for download.

They fire up in the help menu, which you can run along side the Revit window, which reduces your screen real estate. but they are very helpful. Start with the first, and work your way through all of them. After the first several, you'll have a very good understanding of how the program works.

I agree with Greg and Scott, the Help file would be the BEST way for you to begin. I would also recommend doing some of the tutorials on the CD - like the Gropius house project. However, beyond the basics of the help file and the tutorials, I would recommend the on-line training (I believe it's still available) and Cyril Verley's book series. Greg is right, THEY ARE EXCELLENT!

I am also a fan of the online training sessions. They pack a lot of stuff into an hour or two. Even if you don't learn exactly how to do everthing that is covered in a session, you do learn what the program is capable of. Then you at least know what to look for in the help files and tutorials.

I have been using the program since mid December and have used the tutorilas that came with the package. This forum has been the greatest asset to me. I have never used any other package except for some 2D autocad work. Judging from what I see on this forum this is a good thing. You don't approach revit like the "other programs". It doesn't take long to get over the first bump and then things very quickly fall in place. Although there is so much to learn it seems to come very quickly and easily.
I am soooo gland I never had to learn those other 3d cad progams. Sounds like a bad hangover.

This the best site on the web for learning Revit. The sum of knowledge, experienced explanations, and selfless focus on a topic that members routinely excersize here is comprehensive. Add all the other suggestions mentioned here to your own perspiration, and mix well.

Scott Onstott created a CD with dozens of narrated avi files covering most, but not all Revit topics. see scottonstott.com. (I have no relationship with Scott other than appreciative student) The form has the advantage that you can play the lesson over again until it sinks in. It is about $100, but I have found it well worth the expense. I have already outgrown it (thank you), but this forum, is not to be outgrown.

I second Davids reply. This is the best site around and the people are very helpful.

I also purchased Scott Onstott's CD and I would highly recommend that. I enjoy classes but once you leave you are depending on your memory. With the CD, you just go back and review as often as you need.
