Cool Copy Layer Keys from Style to Style

Got a layer standard that you'd like to update to the latest version? Not looking forward to recreating all your custom layer keys?

Download the routine just posted on my blog, besidethecursor.

I left all the VBA code unlocked, so if you want to modify or improve it, just be sure to post the updates back here.

Very indeed! I'll sticky this thread for a little bit so all get a chance to see this.

Will there also be a blog article explaining how to use it? Some of us are just never happy.

Thanks. I was apparently having some sort of caching issue and was not seeing that latest post. Nothing that a CTRL+F5 could not take overcome. Thanks again for sharing this with everyone - this will be quite handy at the next upgrade.

    Richard -

I'm getting some kind of error when I load the routine and run the macro..."Compile Error: Can't find Project or Library" I loaded it when I had ADT2004 up and running and had loaded both of the layer key styles that I wanted to copy between. What could be happening, and did I need to load another kind of file to get this to work?

    HI Curt,

I wrote that routine in ADT2005 and provided code changes to run it in ADT2006. I have not tested it in ADT2004 and do not have an install of ADT2004 to test it on. You would have to detach the missing references inside the VBA editor and point the routine to the new references (adt2004).

You will probably need guidance for this.

    Richard -

Thanks for your reply...like I said, I don't see where the references are missing, mainly because the "References" menu item on the VBA editor is grayed out. Is there a way to see what references that it is looking for? Do I need to seek local help? By the way, I like your avatar...great glasses! I take it a relative of yours, perhaps?

Exclamation Re: Copy Layer Keys from Style to Style

I tried to go your blog and check out the other information you had thrown out there for this. I reached your website just fine. Is the information for this under the archived Oct 2005 section? If so, for some reason I get a "page could not be found" error. This happens on all of the archives I try to click on. First of all am I looking in the correct location? Secondly is the link still active? Thirdly do you (or anyone else out there) have any good suggestions of combining several Layer Key files?

    Thank you!

Yeah, I'm not sure what is wrong with those links...I'll have to dig into the blogger template. All is not lost, however, I've updated the routine for 2007. It now works in either version of 2007. Visit my latest blog post to download a copy.
