text style default in tool palette

I'm in the process of modifying existing text tools and I need to change the default text style of "standard" to a new style. I've been able to modify the layer it comes in on by creating a new layer key style and having it set current in the drawing but don't see an easy way to modify the text style it comes in on.

Do I need to modify the actual block it's referencing. If so, I have a feeling thing are going to get complicated real fast. (i.e.: need to copy original file, rename, locate, set default path, so on and so on...) But if that's the only way I can manage.

Or does someone know a different route?
