I wanted to get some help in trying to create a pattern for glass. We're going to use a Milgard EtchMatte pattern that's a dots off standard pattern 1/8" hole, 1/4" on center white frit 60% coverage. Here's the only info I could find on milgard's site:

    http://www.milgardtempering.com/html/emportfo.pdf

    or

    http://www.milgardtempering.com/html/etchmatt.html

If someone could get me going in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

If this is for a rendering then use a bitmap based material using a gif as the bitmap and make the transparent, then only the coloured surfaces will show up in the rendering. If you want to put a photo on the glass then probably the easiest way will be to make a large gif for your material and play with its x/y offsets to suit your rendered image, time consuming but sure to achieve impressive results.

If it for a 'drawn' view just use a color fill and print colour to a black and white printer you will get a grey shade image which might do the trick. There is a window hatch pattern on RUGI for download.

    PeterJ,

Thank you for your help. I intend to use it for rendering, so I'll make a bitmap and do as you said. Thank you for your help!

I looked back at what I had previously and in fact I used a tiff file and then set the background to be transparent.

You can find an explanation of the process here. Apologies for the earlier red herring.
