Post Using Mr. Sid Shape files in Map

We are trying to understand how to manipulate/use *.sid shape files and their attribute information in Map to use as backgrounds for our site surveys. We can view the image, but cannot figure out how to access the attributes for viewing. As with most Autocad functionality, I am guessing that there are several ways to accomplish our goal. Are there any specific instructions/tutorials available besides the online tutorial that comes with Map? Any advice is appreciated.

We are interested in most of the attribute information. Street name, Long/Lat, etc. We found an article that explained how to link all of this info together in one methodology, but there are some features about it we don't like, and we were not able to view the attribute data. So no matter what attributes we want to see, the methodology should be the same, correct?

Is there any chance this article is on the web? If so, could you post a link to it?

I do not believe AutoCAD Map has a way to extract this information from the .sid.

I believe ESRI ArcSDE is the software you need.

I would be interested reading the article you speak of if possible.

    Hi jmckinney.91816,

I just carefully read through the article you sent me (http://www.pobonline.com/CDA/Article...121906,00.html) and I believe you may have misread a portion of it.

This article discusses how to bring ESRI .shp files into AutoCAD Map and attached the attribute date along with it.

The methodology is correctly stated in the article and you should be able to query the attribute information from the workspace.

If you need some assistance getting the shape files into AutoCAD, there are plenty of instructional threads around on this website and you can feel free to write me also.
