Wall hosted family would work. Create the family with sweeps, then you can aplly them to a wall like a window or door.
For wood panelling in a high end executive office project I built a Curtain Wall with the rail and stile profiles and a solid panel with the reveals/linework to read as raised panelling. Then just model the curtain wall on the face of the existing exterior wall. It also gives you the opportunity to schedule the panels and rails/stiles (mullions)for the 'panel system'. I think those have to be two separate schedules...
