Default Don't list XREF Layers when they can't be selected

Summary: Not listing layers where they cannot be selected.

Description: Don't list xref layers in places where they don't belong (and can't be selected) like the Properites Window Layer droplist.

How Used: I would be able to find "native" layers without having to look through non-pickable xref layers.

This is already manageable in the Object Properties Manager.

Select the "xref" filter (listed as one of the filters whenever an xref is present), then check the Invert Selection checkbox and the Apply to Layers Toolbar checkbox. Now only the base layers for this drawing will be visible in the Layers drop-down.

Not sure what version of AutoCAD you are using where this is available. However, in C3D 2013 what you proposed does not work. The Object Properties Palette's Layer droplist does not respond to the Apply to Layers Toolbar. As the name suggests, Apply to Layers Toolbar means just (and only) that.

I think they could add a toggle in the xref table that could accomplish this.

This functionality has been incorporated into AutoCAD 2014 products... From this article:

    XREF enhancements

XREF also has some little enhancements.

In previous version, you can see XREF layers and linetype in the dropdown list like below.

In AutoCAD 2014, this list simplified as below:

    • Linetype in referenced files will not show in ribbon dropdown list. But still appear in linetype manager and properties palette.
    • Layers will not show in properties palette dropdown. But still appear in ribbon dropdown and layer properties palette.
