What speed is your network running at?

Or what type of network cards do you use (10, 100 or 1000 Mbps). I have a typical ethernet network with a windows server 2003 were all the drawings are stored. We just installed new switches, they work at 10\100\1000 Mbps. Most of the CAD workstations have 100Mbps cards installed. I just bought two new 1000Mbps cards and installed one on my machine and one on the server. I haven't seen a big difference in file access times.

With my old 100Mbps card autocad opened a 12Mb file in 15 seconds and there was no difference with my new card.

So, what speed is everyone's network running at and has anyone upgraded to the newer 1000Mbps network cards and noticed a difference?

Our current file server is an old PII 400 w/ 2 GB RAM & (2) 36GB RAID drives on Win2000. The servers & new workstations are running with Gigabit cards. I have seen a greater difference when copying/transfering files to & from the server. Most of the drag is caused by CAD loading up all its tools.

We just upgraded to Gigabit, here was the results....

I just did some benchmarks with a 130mb revit file, opening the file in revit went from 3:07 to 3:02, the processor was at 100% the whole time so that seems to be the limiting factor there. Just copying the file to my hard drive went from :18 to :6 and the best is saving, went from :35 to :19

Just browsing around in windows explorer seems much faster, no lag when you click a folder

Those benchmarks are pretty much the same thing I have experienced.
