    Default SketchUp with Google Earth?

Is anyone using SketchUp with GoogleEarth? SketchUp has added a plug-in for Google Earth which looks interesting.

I just ordered a new laptop and looking for new software to add in support of Revit. Even though SketchUp doesn't currently have a plug-in for Revit, it seems logical there will be one in the future. In the meantime I can learn SketchUp while waiting for the plug-in.

As for Google Earth, I don't know how they do it, but...WOW! I'm impressed, even with the free version. The Pro version, at $400, adds high quality printing, demographics, traffic info, etc. Nice one stop for anyone putting site selection packages together for clients.

http://earth.google.com/ for those not familiar with this amazing service. Download the free version and be prepared to take a RIDE!

I agree, google earth is one of the coolest things to come out of the internet. I am really writing to ask what system you got for you laptop. I use revit and sketchup alot and I'm in the market for laptop. If you could please share what you purchased (specs) and how you feel about the system.
    Thanks,
    Boyd

You can use SketchUp together with Revit just fine.
I´m impressed how clean the interchange is, and will be happy using it.

Use a perspective view to export to DWG from Revit, and import back into a Revit mass-model from SketchUp.

Then just be happy working out what´s floor/roof/wall etc!
This is a very underestimated Revit feature.

My second choice. I got weary from seeing the new Clevo D900K dual Core AMD units delayed each month for the past 5 months. Then it became apparent that manufacturers are having serious issues configuring dual cores inside notebook computers. This is the D900T P4 version from Clevo (repackaged by BOXX) and, currently, the most powerful workstation notebook available. I went with BOXX because of their experience in building only workstations. It's the same 'boutique' unit gamers buy from Voodoo, Alienware, Sager, Hypersonic, etc. The major differences are the Quadro card and the fact that every component is workstation optimized. I have been wrestling with this for a very long time.

I should be getting the unit sometime next week and have given thought of starting a 'diary' thread with initial benchmarks, issues as they occur, and a general overall analysis of how this beast performs, given the inherent problems with units outfitted with the P4 procs (heat, weight, etc.). If you delete the $1,400 Adobe software, this unit would be comparable in cost with the Dell M70, which gets incredible benchmarks and reviews. Just can't get RAID 0 and dual 100GB 7,200rpm drives with it. I've had 3 Dell Inspirons, loved them and Dell, hard to break away.
