Default Spot elevation doesn't control wall height

I notice that a spot elevation applied to a pad can control the pad elevation by changing the spot elevation but this does not seem to work when applied to top of wall, whats the logic here?

hmmm, never tried to control top of wall using spot level but I agree it should follow through...

Another idea is to control wall heights using RL and not just levels, will make life a bit easier...

Spot elevation when placed on top face of the wall becomes control when top face of the wall is picked in modify tool.

Pad or floor could be moved as the whole, which is why spot elevation becomes control when floor or pad is picked to modify.

but apparently it can only be selected in a 3d view and spot elevations are placed in plan views. If I select a wal in plan I cannot edit the spot elevation

Good idea (to allow changing top of the wall in plans). I'll file it as request.
Actually, if you select top face of the wall (say, in 3d view) to modify and switch to plan view, spot elevation becomes control and allows change (at least, that worked for me).
It looks to me thinking was that it is hard to tell visually what is picked in plan view: wall or its top face, which is why such selection is problematic.

yes well, I like the way it works with pads, you just select the spot elevation itself and you can change it, you dont have to select the face, I mean presumably it knows what its attached to

Spot elevation on the pad moves the whole pad up. The top face of the pad can not be moved separately because thickness is controlled by the type of the pad (structure).

Wall instances allow change in top face (top offset) independent of other parameters (base level and offset).
So for the walls, if the base of the wall would move with spot elevation placed on top face, I doubt you would actually like such behavior.

However, allowing face selection when spot elevation is placed in plans, or turning spot elevation into control when user picks spot elevation for 'modify' makes sense. In both cases only top offset of the wall would change.

yes, I am thinking of site walls particularly, that is typically where spot elevations are placed and yes I would typically want just the top of wall to raise or lower. It is very convenient rather that a dialog box selection
