is there a way to scale the height of aligned text without changing anything else? leaving it aligned and/or rotated the same?

    thanks

You would need to change it the justification to fit. This would allow you to change the text height.

Just a note - I have moved this from the Tips and Tricks forum to the AutoCAD General forum as I believe it is better served here.

thanks for your suggestion - but i should have said i wanted the text to be larger - not just it's height. by changing the justification to fit - and then changing the height - the text will maintain the same width along with the new height - becoming illegible. I have tried creating a new style with a larger height - but that doesn't want to work either. Any other suggestions?

But if you change the height without changing the alignment, you are not maintaining the original alignment points. Have you tried to scale the text entity?

Perhaps I should explain a little more.

I have a drawing of contours - thousands and thousands of them - each with several contour labels all of which are indivudual aligned text entities. Scaling, as you suggest, would work fine - but i'd have to do each separate piece of text individually and select a origin point for each. I'm looking for a quicker way to enlarge the text by selecting all the text at once and changing it's properties.

width factor is proportional - it can be changed when the justification is set to aligned - but the height reduces proprtionally. when the justification is changed to 'fit' - the width factor becomes dependent on the height and stays the same relative width.

Right now I can't even produce Aligned text. The command drops out when I pick the second point.

Have you tried to change the justification to left? What would this do for you? Can you re-annotate the contours with the right text settings?
