Can spaces have vaulted ceilings? If so how do you create these?
Thanks.

Unfortunately not. It's a good thing to wish for. I've run into the same need.
Is this for modeling purposes or for reporting in a schedule? We found the need to have a ceiling condition called "open to above". We simply applied an override to the property in the schedule.

I was hoping to be able to report on volumes for rooms without flat ceilings. Think I will post it in the wish list.
Thanks
Ahhh, so you'll have to construct the volume by measuring the entities involved then. Since you could use slabs to represent the vaulted condition of the ceiling, you might grab the area from the space and then calculate the volume as the sum of space volume plus the calculated triangular region above.

Would it not also be possible to use a Mass element for this situation, and just report the Mass element's volume?
Yeah I thought about that too! Only problem is that is just one more thing to coordinate when changes occur.

I'm coming around to the idea that I will need to use slabs or mass elements, although I'm a bit disappointed that spaces do not have this functionality, as it will make scheduling the space volumes more complicated.
If I use slabs over mass elements why would there be one less thing to coordinate when changes are made? The slab would not resize automatically would it?

Your slab won't resize automatically, but you can regenerate space objects. This really is just one of those limitations of ADT.Originally Posted by gdaniels
