Red face Weeding for Surface Cross Sections...

Hi, I am working with some rather large surfaces that were originally created in LDD. I have several cross-sections generated of a rather complex site, and my problem is that the surfaces are so 'pixellated', for lack of a better term, that the section segment bands in the cross section views have so many grade breaks (that are so small as to be negligible) that the grade labeling is piling up on top of one another so much that is basically useless. The problem is, I would like to show the finished ground grades in the section views. Is there a way to 'weed' the section data so that it only shows relevant grade breaks like you can do with eg profiles? I've tried smoothing the surface, to no avail. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Bill,
I'm just getting into C3D and learning it myself so don't know what the out come will be, but in the maps tools there is a weed polyline under the cleanup options. Of course I don't know what it will do to anything link(parameters) or tied to the finished grade.

Hmmm...that is very interesting. I think I'll try that tomorrow. I guess that I will have to convert the profile to static first, and then explode it. Hopefully that doesn't crash anything. Civil 3d seems to be picky about what you manupulate manually (i.e. explode). I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks!

No dice. It wouldn't let me select the profile for the command, and when I exploded it, I lost all of the attached references to the profile view. My vertical geometry band goes blank and my clipped grid goes to full.

It was a try anyways. Maybe one of the C3D gurus will reply.

Actually I would like to see a similar option for profiles too. I sometimes get a surface with some funky links in it. I know that they won't affect the design but they make the profile look "wrong." It would be nice if I could limit the minimum spacing of the EG point display, so that it smoothes out the line.
