Question AutoCAD LT message - Unable to save to drawing...

Trying to save to a server and this message keeps popping up, it only seems to be temporary. Any ideas?

    AutoCAD LT Message
Unable to save to drawing C:layout1.dwg as it is being accessed by another session.
    Drawing saved to c:savF205.ac$

    Thanks

appears that you've got the drawing open twice (whether yourself having two instances open or another user having it open) or the dwl file wasn't deleted as it should have been the last time that drawing was opened/closed.

If someone else tried to open the same drawing while I was in it wouldn't they only be able to do so as a read only? I was wondering if maybe it had something to do with saving the drawing while the server was trying to back up the info, but our tech says the time frame does not match. Thanks for the good ideas. I'll keep thinking about it.

that's a toughie... you could have been temporarily disconnected from the server... ~shrug~ just shootin in the dark right now... good idea on what you asked your tech about though, I wouldn't have thought of that.

I'm not sure if this applies (it's been a while since I've seen it and I've never used LT to see its specific message) but is there a DWL file in the same directory as your DWG file? If so then it might give you that message. In the old days this happened often, especially if your AutoCAD crashed once during the design process.

    Hi Brian

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the CAD Mgmt. General forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, Mike

    Hi

Check out the following Technical Document on the Autodesk web site under the Knowledge Base section -

ID: TS47952 - Error: Unable to save <drawing name> as it is being accessed by another session.

    Have a good one, Mike

Question Re: AutoCAD LT message - Unable to save to drawing...

I referred to the technical document and had our tech update the drivers as indicated as a possible fix. I did not get the error for a few days and then to quote Emeril "BAM" I just got the error again. This is starting to frustrate the tech and myself. She recently started to install an upgrade to 2006LT. I don't know if this has something to do with the error or not. Any thoughts??

    Thanks
    Brian
