Default trouble joining arc via polyline edit

I need to revolve a polyline with a profile that includes an arc segment.
First I have to join all the segments, including the arc.

Via Polyline Edit command, the program refuses to recognize the arc as a polyline.

Even the Help says that it should allow me to turn that segment into a PL. But it keeps saying
Object selected is not a polyline

PEDITACCEPT command makes no difference either.

~shrug~ I don't know what might be wrong with that. I just drew an arc, pedit and it turned it into a pline.

could you post a file with the rogue arc and upload here so we can take a look at it?

Sorry, I neglected to say that the arc was actually a quadrant from an ellipse.

    That may be the kicker.

I've spent a lot of time on this. The only success I had was making a closed polyline whereby the arc was a true constant radius, and the other two segments were perpendicular lines. Then I could revolve that polyline.

THEN I had to draw the other, primary polyline shape, and revolve that.

Finally, I had to subtract the first shape from the second, and I finally ended up with the desired solid.

Surely there must be an easier way!

Also, I wish ACAD allowed the Z axis the same status and respect as X and Y.

You could try using the BOUNDARY command to create a polyline.

Set the sys var Pellipse to 1/On then recreate the elliptical quadrant.

You do not need to join all the lines together to make a closed polyline.

Make sure all the lines meet exactly at their ends.

Use the 'region' command and select all the elements in your closed shape.

    Revolve the region.
