Default Topo lines are hidden in hidden line view b/t demo & new

I have two toposurfaces - one existing (demo'd in new) and one new. The new toposurface has some areas that are physically lower than the existing (demo'd) surface. In a hidden line site plan view, the new topo lines are hidden by the existing surface. Is there a way around this?

Right now I am making two views and putting them on top of one another on a sheet. First view is the site plan with the new topo set to hidden line. Second view is demo'd topo only, set to wireframe. This workaround is functional, but clunky.

    Thanks!

That's how I'd do it...I like overlaying views on sheets. Each view is a simple extraction of info and the overlay puts them in the right context. Clunky to you sweet to me!
