Does anyone know if there is a list of acceptable abbreviations that you can use in AutoCAD? Example: cvunit(43560,square feet, acres) - - AutoCAD will not let me abbreviate square feet to sqft for example. Any suggestions?

Check out the ACAD.UNT file.

The acad.unt file gives you a list of units that you can convert. It does not tell you such things like you can substitute 'sqft' for 'square feet' or 'in' for 'inch', etc. Oh well, it's not that big of a hassle to type out square feet or inch instead of using an abbreviation.Originally Posted by rkmcswain

I believe you can modify that file to read what you want it to read. If you want 'sqft' instead of 'square feet', this would be the file to make those changes. You may want to copy the desired lines and changing the copied lines, therefore keeping the previous units available as well.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

As it turns out, you CAN add your own, or modify the ones that are there.
