Default Insert Excel into AutoCAD - Failed to create object...

For some reason, I am getting a "Failed to create object. Make sure the object is entered in the system registry." error whenever I try to insert an Excel OLE object with the "Create New" option. This is not a problem with other objects.

I never had this problem before. This is also not a problem if I insert an existing Excel file using the "Create from file" option or copying the worksheet from Excel and then pasting it onto AutoCAD. However, whenever I dbl click on the Excel OLE object in AutoCAD to do an edit, I get a "Failed to launch server application" error and Excel will not launch, although, the worksheet opens if I have Excel already running.

What's interesting is that if I edit the worksheet by opening it from Excel, do an edit and save it (my workaround), it will not update the object in AutoCAD. This is very frustrating because the Excel file/worksheet is referenced to more than one drawing and so I am forced to copy the worksheet and paste it (not to mention, resize and reposition) onto each of my drawings. Aaaarrrggh!!! Can someone help?

Did you try looking at http://support.autodesk.com ?
The first document returned was: http://support.autodesk.com/Getdoc.asp?ID=TS43271

Thanks but I figured out one of my problems moments after I made the post. In order for the OLE object to update, you have to check the "LINK" button on "Create from file" before you insert the object. (Of course!)

However, the "Failed to create object. Make sure the object is entered in the system registry." error is still a problem. It seems that I may have to reinstall the application (Excel). I'm using AutoCAD 2005 and Excel 2000. AutoCAD support only states when pasting it onto AutoCAD (which is not the issue) and not when creating a new OLE object.

Then you still might need to check out http://support.autodesk.com/Getdoc.asp?ID=TS43271

Their win total has finally eclipsed the win total of the Texans.
