Default 8.1/E - Crop regions in drafting views - O

I think it would be useful to either have crop regions, or some other way of "breaking" drafting views like you break the crop regions of other model views. Say for instance I want to draw a window sill and head detail in the same view. I draw them one above the other in the same view, with break lines indicating a break in the distance between each detail. Now, if I want to dimension the vertical rough opening, I would have to draw a dimension, and then use dumb text over the top of the dimension to represent the actual rough opening size. If we had crop regions, I would be able to draw the details the correct distance apart for the rough opening, break the crop region and drag the two details together, and then have the dimension between the details still show up correctly.

That would take away one more reason for needing to fake dimensions in Revit. Without this feature, and without the ability to edit dimension text in Revit, we have to make families that look like dimensions to do this type of documentation.

We just make a dimension type called Note with a text size of 1/256" and then put plain text to cover it up with the required dimension value.

If you post a reply of "definitely not" in a poll, please back up your opinion with your reason!! Its a pointless vote otherwise...
