Question Double clicking to edit (attedit) not working

Autocad 2004 - Just recently, I can no longer double click to edit attribute block text. Did I inadvertently change one of my system variables? HELP

If A2004 is the same as A2006 DBLCLKEDIT should be set to ON.

    Jbwk,
    Thank you for your reply.
I guess I should have elaborated: My "DBLCLKEDIT" is set to "On", and when I double click a viewport, I get an error like the following; '_.properties Unknown command "PROPERTIES". Press F1 for help. or when I double click an attribute text item, I get an error like this; _.eattedit Unknown command "EATTEDIT". Press F1 for help. Command: 148.651291,-132.748349,0.000000 Unknown command
    "148.651291,-132.748349,0.000000". Press F1 for help.

Really strange, It's like it doesn't want to run transparent commands or something. ??? (Also, if I type these commands in, they work fine.)

Hmm. Reaching a bit here - is AcDblClkEdit.arx listed in Loaded Applications when you start the Appload command?

After you've typed the command and it's worked, will it then work normally?

Yes, There are two "AcDbl..." arx files located in my program directory, and in my Loaded Applications list: AcDblClkEditPE.arx, and AcDblClkEdit.arx. Have any idea what the difference is?

I think my problem is bigger than I suspected.
Check this out, I may have another clue:

    Command: *Cancel*
    Command: mt
Unknown command "MTEXT". Press F1 for help.

Now I am really going to go nuts!

Sounds like you're going from bad to worse here. Have you changed anything recently on your computer? Network login, user profiles...anything like that?

Does anyone have access to your computer that would know how to edit your acad.pgp file?

    It certainly is!

    Start checking the simplest things.
Does "L" start the Line command.
Does "line" start the line command?
    Similarly "M" and "move".
If "no" to the first and "yes" to the second, look at your pgp file.
If "no" to the second and closing and restarting acad doesn't fix it, give up and re-install. It'll be quicker.

    I'VE GOT IT!!! YEAH!!!

I finally figured out what was wrong, and have no idea how this system variable got changed.

Found this on Autodesk Website, searching for:
(_properties Unknown command "PROPERTIES". Press F1 for help.)

    -------------------------------------------
Some commands in the AutoCAD® software do not work; for example:
    _matchprop (match properties)
    _rectang (rectangle)
When you use these commands, the following error message is displayed:
    Error: Unknown command
    Solution

    To resolve this problem:
    1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
    2. In the Options dialog box, click the Open and Save tab.
    3. Under ObjectARX Applications, select Command Invoke from the Demand load ObjectARX Apps list.
[Mine was set to "Custom Object Detect"...???]
If this setting is set to either Disable load on demand or Custom object detect, these AutoCAD commands do not work.
This issue can also affect commands in AutoCAD based software products.

    ----------------------------------------------

Actually, if not set correct, about half of all AutoCAD commands do not work.

Thanks again guys, for all of your input.

I am so glad I did not have to reinstall.

    Happy New Year!
    Charlie
