While I could likely give you a bit more info than this, it's likely important I ask this question first as it might generate a more informed response from a person in a specific field: What type of drawing are you looking to do? Will it be Mechanical, Architectural, etc?

From this answer we'll likely be able to give you a better response. The "simple" answer is that there is no simple way to do this, but there are some things you might be able to do depending on exactly what you are trying to accomplish.

If I remember correctly from my old 3d AutoCAD days, if you have drawn the "plan" in a polyline, then that may be extuded to form your basis of the 3d model.

However, the simplest way to give a 3-D representation while using only 2-D commands, is to create an Isometric drawing. This has been the usual way of doing things before CAD allowed true 3-D work to be done.

This is only one way, there are countless others as many more imformed than I will help...

The very basis from which to begin, is to learn to work with X, Y and Z axes... 3D Space. The type of industry you are working in will determine to a degree the manner in which you create your models, but no matter what type of industry it is for, it is important to be able to work within three dimensional space. Get your head around the basics of using 3D geometry (cylinders, boxes, spheres, cones, donuts), drawing using the 0,0,0 (X,Y,Z) annotation, the use of faces, extrusions, paths and planes, and creating compound geometry using addition, subtraction, and union (although I would suggest steering clear of this as much as possible if you intend exporting large models to MAX / VIZ as face and vertex counts increase drastically)

In the end, it is all these and bit a more that you will be using, but once you have the basics down, you'll be able to pick up on the rest with practice.
