    Default Linking Fields

I have a little experience with the fields in ACAD. Mainly with sheet numbers and titles using the Sheet Set Manager. We have 2k6 and ABS 2k6 in our office. We have not really worked with hyperlinks.

I am trying to figure out if there is a way that I can link some text in a schedule(table), i.e. "AHU-1", and have that same text displayed in a different drawing. The idea being that if I change the designation on one sheet, it automatically changes on the other.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD 2006 General forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, Mike

    Hi

I do not think it is possible to link a Table value ( Field / Text Object ) across different drawings ( Field / Text Object ) and have them all linked, so enabling all to be updated automatically when one is updated.

I would happily like to be shown differently.

Please note I realise it is possible to link Fields / Text Objects across multiple drawings via Sheet Sets ( but that is a different scenario to the one being asked, I think ).

You might want to keep an eye on the following thread in case it develops and offers a solution you could adopt...

Linking Table Data to a Block (and Back)

    Have a good one, Mike

Thanks for the reply Mike. I am not sure how to make this happen then. One of the things that sold me on upgrading our CAD stations here was the fact that in one of the vidoes through Autodesk, which showed the new features and all on the newer versions, it was presented that you could link objects in a drawing to the corresponding in a schedule/table on a schedule sheet.

I am going to do more to find out about this.

With ABS 2006 you can schedule objects in other drawings when they are XRefs in the schedule sheet.

Are there characters in the Value of the static Attrib?

In four years I have not read a complete reason for the ### showing up from time to time.
Sometimes recreating the Attrib and Field will clean it up.
