Default Xref loading problem - Xrefs suddenly lose their path

Working on a project and we have 3 xref's. All the xrefs suddenly will lose their path and not load. All have different names and paths. We have audited, purged, renamed, copied and created a new drawing piece by piece. Still wont load. Working on 2002. Any Ideas.

Thanks for posting back your solution. I'm sure someone else will benefit from knowing this.
