Can anyone point me to a site that might give me info on the basic principles of an AutoCAD test for prospective employees. I am in the bridge design field. Would be much obliged for any help.

that I don't know, but, I believe this has come up a few times here and on the autodesk forums... I did a search for Hire Test and got a few hits... and on the adesk discussion groups there are a few more. Good luck.Originally Posted by margaret.stenhouse

That one was recommended at AU.
I d/l'd the demo and got wierd error messages any time I opened a Microsoft app.
Called tech support there, and the guy says "oh, that demo is for XP. If you're on win2k, just search for this .dll file and delete it."
uh......., ok. (hey! it worked!) .....till my next reboot. Totally trashed my OS.
meh, needed a clean start anyway.
Moral: beware on windows 2000. use at your own risk.

Many thanks. This is just what I was looking for.
Just as an aside to this test site. I have been hiring cad staff for several years and I have found the following:
Hope you find some of this helpful ,
- I much prefer to have small drafting tests that I can watch them perform. These tests have nothing to do with the industry I am in, but I get to watch how they approach it and whether or not they use their snaps, proper commands, proper order of drawing, etc.
- I then have 10 questions that have to do with the drawing they just made. This shows me how much they know about getting information from AutoCAD (it's easy to draw a line but what's the best way to find an angle between 2 points?). You will be surprised at the steps people take that are just not needed.
- I also give these tests to seasoned operator's in our office just as a checkup to see how everyone is doing and what areas I can offer training or advice.
Do you make up your own tests? or get them from somewhere like a website or training facility?Originally Posted by rmcelvain.103137
