You can change the name, but you will have to go into Manage Links in Revit, and use Reload From for each linked DWG to tell Revit the new path.
Keep in mind that Revit keeps a cached copy of data for linked dwgs. Thus after renaming even though Revit can't find dwg file it will continue displaying its image based on cached data. Of cause after reloading everything should be back to normal.
Where is that cache folder ?
No folder. Revit internalizes linled dwg data inside of rvt files and watches for dwg files to change.Originally Posted by dhurtubise
WAIT, WAIT, WAIT! Do you mean windows, like fenestration? Or, do you mean Windows, like Microsoft Windows? If you are asking if you can change the name of your Windows directories names - NO! Sure, it's possible, but configuration changes that would have to be made throughout your directory structure would be almost insurmountable.
If you meant the folder where your window family files are stored, I am terribly sorry for the interruption.
Volkswagen guy,
I was talking about the windows operating system! But thank you for the concern. And I'll make sure to not change the windows family directory now!
Thanks to all for the help and insight. Have a wonderful Friday!
Wesley,
I'm sorry, but I think you've misunderstood me. I was saying DON'T change your Microsoft Windows directory name. Then I apologized if you didn't mean the Microsoft Windows directory (note the capital W in Windows).
I think it's too late for our friend....the Windows directory has been renamed and Wesley can't get back online or even log-in!
