Post Complex roof problem? tappering profile on curved 2d path

    Hi

I have an arch (curved 2d path) shaped building. Roof profile is curved.

I need to add a tapering roof starting with a wider profile tapering to a narrow profile
on a curved path which is where the blend tool stops.

    Any ideas desperately welcome!

    Cheers
    Steve

You will need to make your roof out of an inplace family consisiting of extrusions create in plan, then voids created in elevation to cut the top and botom shapes as needed. If this can't do it you will have to model it outside of revit and import it in.

If Revit had the nurbs path option you could create your roof in few seconds without having to pay $3,000-$7,000 for another program that has this option. + the export import forth and back in case of any changes to the roof.

ooh yes what a cunumdrum we had with this darn roof!!

We tried modelling in 3DS but found it no good as not cumtomisable in Revit at later stage so we pulled the plug 2 hours in.

soooooo, in the end we used old Revit 4.5 technique of c/wall roof method using manual manipulation (ouch!) in a series of joined roof segments. sux sux sux!!

Took 5 hours to do and held up the end look to the client which we pulled off with copious amounts of revit smoke and mirrors. Even still we have to at next stage redraw roof at D/design stage - slack! hopefully R.9 will have Blend on curved 2D path.

First time in 4 years that I have hit the wall so badly, but hay the client loved the direction which means Revit once again outmet expectation and has allowed the next stage to progress, even with a 5 hour waste, if only.................

The "mirrors" part was using M/soft movie to present Walkthrus and stills to client via projector. Great little program for on the fly presentations.

Other tip was leaving the massing on looks great at concept stage. Refer attached Jpegs
    for roof and perspective.

    cheers

Great perspective, reminds me a bit of the Le Corbusier building, Notre Dame du Haut at Ronchamp...
