Is it possible to remove columns from the net floor area?

go to the area plan view, select area boundary (under the area analysis tab), and simply sketch a boundary around the column (s) you want to remove.

As long as this boundary forms an 'island' within the overall area boundary, it will be discounted from this calculation. If you then want to measure the area of the column, simply drop an area tag within the area of the column itself.

    Hope this helps.

    Another way.....
1.Export to AutoCAD and import it.
2.Under area analysis>Area Boundary>Pick lines then TAB key..

You can save a lot of time...if you are working on a large area with lots of column & irregular shapes..

YOu can also do one column, add room bounding lines(or area lines depending on the application) then group them, then place your column group.
