Default Polar stretch or rotate with stretch help

Rico, now that you have gotten better at the Dynamic Blocks, I have a question for you. I am trying to incorporate a rotate with the stretch action.

I have attached a drawing of a simple culvert. The drawing has two different DBs inserted. The one named Culvert is the one that works for the stretch action only. I was trying to add a rotate action or polar stretch action to the C-2 DB.

I want the ends of the culvert to rotate but the sides (top and bottom in the drawing) to stretch.

    Any suggestions?

Richard, here's my quick work-break try.... one thing i'm finding out (personally, anyway) with the polar stretch, is that it doesn't play will with other parameters that need to tag along for the ride... anyway, please let me know if that is what you were after.

I'll have to look at in the morning, but I'm sure you got it to work. You usually do.

Chris, I just looked at the block you posted. It seems to have a little bit of a problem. Have you tried the width stretch action? It doesn't seem to work the way the original was working.

The attribute also doesn't stay in the middle of the block. You'll need to change the visibility of the attribute definition to see what I am talking about.

I do like the rotation part.

If you add a Stretch Action and set the Multiplier to 0.5 you will get this...(still working on the "change width issue")

    Thanks for the help.

I did find out if you do the width stretch first, then there is now problem. Once you do the polar stretch, the width stretch will not work right.

    This is too complicated.

I don't care what Chris says about you. You're alright.

    Just kidding about Chris.

That is exactly what I was looking for. Anything I need to know to figure out what you did?

Well, sure. Diss me then ask for my help?

    hehe.

You had done the stretch portion correctly in your original drawing, but your rotate portion was wonky.

What it was, basically, is that you have to include the parameters, grips and objects to be rotated, but (and this is important) do not include the actions.

The actions need to be excluded from the rotate for the block to work correctly. I think it has to do with orientation of the block functions relative to the overall angle. It's hard to explain.
