Correlation of Images to New System
Last year our firm purchased 800GB of aerial photography coverage across two adjacent states. The images and world files were correlated to the state planes coordinate system of “State A”. Inserting them into drawings created on the state planes coordinate system of “State B” was easily accomplished in release 2004. The transformation was executed through the Raster Design Insert Image dialog box and upon accepting the settings, the user was prompted to rubber sheet the image. The image frame exactly bounded the image and groups of adjacent images formed a practically seamless aerial.
Now we have release 2006 to work with. Using the exact same process and after clicking the apply button in the insert dialog box, the image appears in the drawing properly moved and rotated. Then when the OK button is clicked, the image frame enlarges and rotates to the angle specified by the “State A” world file. The image itself remains properly transformed, but is now bounded by four triangles of space between it and the frame. There is no prompt to rubber sheet and I doubt this is being performed automatically, because now adjacent images display unsightly gaps between them.
Added to all of this is the fact that inserting and processing images in release 2006 takes about five times as long. Am I missing something? Is anyone else having similar problems? Thanks for taking time to read this.
