    Default Roof trim command

I would like to be able to trim intersecting roofs so the inside faces make a clean join. (see attached). I know I could use a void to clean it up, but that would mean I would have to use three different steps: 1) cut an opening in the main roof 2) cut the secondary roof to the opening and 3) create a void to trim the excess. There should be a command that trims roofs like walls.

Good request! Some cleanup tool for situations like that would be very nice! You could ofcoourse use roof by extrution to solve that problem, but thats not the way I like to design my roofs.

Actually, I think the roof-command has been neglected for a long time now. There needs to be vast improvements to it (it's a bit simplistic as of now). They should look a bit to VectorWorks at this I think. The roof-tool looks quite impressive for what I have seen in the demos: http://download2.nemetschek.net/www_movies/Roofs.zip

    Thanks for the replies.

Max, I am glad you made me look at the dormer opening tool again. I had tried to use it initially, but I couldn't get past picking the boundary of the dormer roof. Every time I tried to pick the walls they wouldn't select. I found that the trick is to pick the dormer wall faces is a 3D shaded view. For some reason I can select the wall faces in 3D, but not in my roof plan. I had called support about this and we had come up with cutting an opening in the roof and editing the dormer roof to fit the shape of the opening. But the dormer opening tool is working great for me now (see attached).

snurresprett9, thanks for the neat little roof video!
