Can we measure in DWG TrueView yet?

Hello,

Some people in my ofice are using DWG TrueView and are happy with it.
But the thing that could really help them a lot would be the ability to measure.
Anybody know if/when Autodesk might add this feature to DWG TrueView?

Nope! unless I have missed a new release ( quite possible ).

Plus, people testing any possible future releases of DWG TrueView are under NDAs.

I seriously doubt it, since that would cut into usage of the DWF Composer, which is being highly marketed right now.

To me there's a need for DWFs and a simple DWG viewer. We use the viewer in house.
I have a group of engineering users who have a casual need to call up DWGs from our server to check on work in progress.
DWG TrueView is great for this. It saves us from having to "publish" within our own system.

There are a lot of 3rd party DWG viewers out there, and we've used several, but DWG TrueView is my favorite.
It has the look and feel of AutoCAD. My users like it.
If Autodesk would add the ability to measure to this product it would be perfect.

We have the exact same situation here. The ability to perform linear and area measurements are all we need added also.

Maybe they will surprise us though....

Interesting.
Can you provide any examples, other than the AUGI 'official' wishlist?
Are there 'deskers out there scanning the AUGI forums looking for ideas and suggestions?
Are these 'deskers able to implement the changes?

I still contend this isn't a case of 'missing features' that may be later added by customer request, but rather that measuring tools were intentionally omitted in order to push DWF composer use/sales.

If measuring ability were added, we would buy a few dozen copies even if the cost was a few hundred US dollers/seat. However I'm sure that Autodesk thought of this and their market reseach determined that it wouldn't sell.

We wouldn't even mind buying the $US199 DWF Composer, but we are not going to worry about syncing our DWG files with DWF files so that DWF viewers are always reading the current file.

Of course, hopefully I'm completely wrong and DWG TrueView 3 will still be FREE and include measuring capability.

while I have tried, and decently liked True View, I still have my users on Bentley View here, another free download, just not from autodesk. These guys aren't autocad users.

I think we have discussed this before. My "viewer users" are all AutoCAD trained and could not stand Bentley View. They chose to give up measuring ability (for now) rather than use BV.
