    I do that too...

My boss (Interior Designer) keeps going through phases where she wants upper and lower case text since she feels it's easier to read. The Architect and I keep telling her "no" and doing it in all caps.

All caps here, unless, as you said, lower case is needed for clarity/accuracy.
3/32" and 1/8" text (plotted size) except the "pretty" titles that go on the bottom and some of the border text. (fluff)
Romans font set at .8 width on the text style is my preference, though some users here are too d**n lazy to bother changing the width (these same folks are the ones still using TXT font) Yes, I know we have all these nifty Truetype fonts available to us now, but I find they slow down drawings with lots of text, you can't read them without zooming in close, sometimes they don't print/copy/fax well when reduced, and a few rogues cause us to send & receive drawings with fonts that aren't readily available.
I'm a big fan of "tried and true".

I agree. I use 1/8" text. .8 width on dims and .9 on text. The main reason is because it is readable and with a majority of our drawings (check sets, reference sets, and field sets) being reproduced at 1/2 size you can still read the drawings clearly. The only full size drawings I have are permit sets and record sets.
