Default Revit Running on Intel Mac

    Corner 1: IBM T43p w/ 1 gig ram.
Corner 2: MacBook Pro Dual Core w/ 1 gig ram.

    See attached.

    http://onmac.net/

Install was moderately difficult. Read the Wiki at onmac.net.

You have to reboot to switch between OSs. Graphics do seem a bit sluggish (no graphics driver is yet available). Open times, view creation times, save times all see fine. Its more a matter of view rotation that shutters.

    Oh yeah - need a two-button mouse...

    Hey Guy! Getting closer!

Test 1: Execute Journal File of Revit Hotel project (49.2 megs). Worksets enabled. Open, render, save and close.

Zip of MP4 file attached. That's right. Quicktime required.

Hmmm... interest is peaked... but I'm not following you... a bit too cryptic... care to elaborate?

(and I'm not seeing any quicktime attachment here...)

Ok - a bit more detail (and hopefully the file). Basically I started up the Revit Hotel project (created in 5.1 - but upgraded to 8.1). Then I selected a view, rendered it, exported the view, saved the project file and closed Revit.

The resulting Journal file and Revit project was copied to the MacBook. The Journal file was then executed on both systems simultaneously. From open to close, the MacBook finished in 3:50 and the IBM kept going till 5.20.

    I admit...completely unscientific.

Worksets seem fine. Keyboard Shortcuts work. Rendering alone is faster by a third.

A bit ironic considering its still a few days shy of April 1st. But then again, I believe that was Mr. Jezyk's handiwork.

    Sweet! Thanks for sharing!

I assume you accomplished XP on MacIntel using the recently revealed Narf hack?

Here's a zipped Quicktime file of both laptops rendering. 300dpi, 1600x1600. Took around 2 minutes on the MacBook and around 3:30 on the IBM.

The friend with the MacBook has signed up on AUGI. Works for a Mac-centric firm here in Charlotte. He'll monitor the thread for any technical questions.

Yeah is was the Narf hack from onmac.net. It took a few tries to get it XP to install. (Back up your data and wait untill you get XP running before you copy it back over.)

The screen graphics are slow but not that much of an issue. The MBPro was faster rendering than an R-serise ThinkPad. The bigger issue right now it the fan control. Either it's all on or all off. I'm waiting for a driver for that.
