Revit is the only thing I use Windows for and I've become very attached to the Mac programs so I would hate to switch back to pc....but Revit is my income so I may have to. I wondered if there are configure recommendations that will help or would it work if I upgraded to a newer 8 GB MacBook Pro.
I'm also having printer problems but I think that may be a Parallels issue.
I think upgrading would be a really good idea but in any case have you seen this thread?

More ram makes a difference. get as much as possible. I have two macs with 8 gigs. on a 64 bit system. 5 gigs dedicated to windows.

My older mac book pro only supports 4 gigs and it suffers with only two gigs for windows.

Thanks, the thread info looks helpful. I will make changes to my settings and see if I can do without an upgrade for now.

I'm running 8 gigs on my MacBook Pro, the same 5 gigs dedicated to Windows. Runs well.

Thanks, I think eventually I will have to upgrade to more RAM to be happy. Even if I do will the extra RAM overcome the graphic issues of Revit running Direct3d?. Will renderings look as good?

Firstly, you have to be running 64 it windows to run that much ram. I don't know the answer about direct ed. Ram should not have a bearing on how your renderings look.

Providing more RAM to the VM prevents Windows/Revit slowdowns/crashes due to insufficient RAM. That's it. You also have to leave enough RAM available for OS X to prevent slowdowns due to insufficient RAM.

Aside from bugs in Revit, the D3D graphic issues are almost exclusively related to the VM's level of compatibility with the video card (i.e. it's up to Parallels/Fusion).

As Sultarc indicates, rendering quality isn't determined by the hardware. However, the speed of renderings is determined by the CPU and available RAM.

I just saw a post for AutoCad for a Mac. When will Revit be on a Mac?

I'll be hyped when Revit is on the Mac, hopefully done as well as AutoCAD for Mac (meaning a real OS X UI, and full use of OS X capabilities, not a direct port).
Seeing last century's killer AEC app on this century's killer OS underwhelms a little.
